About NEMAS

National Environmental and Meteorological Association, Inc. (NEMAS) is a non-profit corporation with the following mission.

Dissemination of important weather information to the public by providing local and national forecasts, charts, maps, special preparedness information, and educational materials. It is our goal to bring as much information to as many people as possible in a concise and consistent manner. We try to extend on the National Weather Service's mission of awareness and advanced warning without infringing on their authority.

We are also dedicated to implement and administer public outreach programs geared toward helping individuals to better understand their atmosphere and environment around them.

 

Improved public awareness in regards to the protection and preservation of the global environment, leading to participation by all communities in the goal of keeping our planet clean, healthy, and safe for us now, and for generations to come

We strongly believe that public awareness in regards to atmospheric and environmental sciences is an important part of every individual's well being in terms of life and invested property.

How to join

We accept individuals 18 years of age or older who have a deep and keen interest in atmospheric and/or environmental science. Applicants must however meet our requirements based on our application, entrance exam, and interview process. Applicants should have a strong desire to want help the general public to be better prepared for the often disastrous effects of severe and unusual weather. Our main objective is to help save lives and property in concert with the National Weather Service's mission.

All current available positions are listed on our Openings Page. If you are interested in opening a new forecast office with NEMAS, please send an outline of the proposed forecast area you'd like to cover. Please include a map of the outlined area if at all possible. Also give up to three proposed office ID's for your office. In most cases office IDs are based on the city in which the office is being run out of, for instance NEMAS-BOS for Boston, MA.

If you are interested in possibly implementing a new department within NEMAS that is geared toward our mission as stated above, please send a detailed proposal explaining what this department should be, it's mission/objective, how you plan to operate it, and the estimated required resources needed to implement and operate this department.
